OUR COLLECTIVE
ArtCinema Collective: A community of individuals driven by shared passions and interests, united to work and create together.
As part of our newly established Greek non-profit, ArtCinema Greece, we aim to cultivate an international community that champions and greenlights independent art and film from talented creators, regardless of their background. Our year-round cultural program includes workshops, artist residencies, and grants that span film, art, music, and creative collaborations. We see ourselves as creative catalysts, providing the support, resources, and infrastructure to align with artists and creatives on ideas and projects at any stage of development, across all artistic disciplines.
As a European non-profit, we are able to attract funding from patrons, arts organisations, and governments to bring projects to life, leveraging our expertise, resources, and networks. With an expansive industry network of producers, we also help facilitate connections between filmmakers, creatives, and independent financiers.
We invite you to share your ideas and look forward to collaborating with you, please contact us here.
MUSIC: OLD CARPET FACTORY
We are thrilled to explore music collaborations in the live performance space, collaborating with one of Greece's premier music recording studios, the Old Carpet Factory, that recently welcomed the addition of the new specially designed Neve console, affectionately known as "Lucy."
As part of ArtCinema Hydra, we invited film industry professionals to visit the Old Carpet Factory, where they met with Founder Stephan Collerado-Mansfeld and his business partner, Greek sound engineer Vassilis Korres. Together, they showcased the studio’s world-class resources, which have attracted top musicians who include Damien Rice. We also catalysed informal discussions with our guest, Creative Greece's new CEO Leonidas Christopoulos, a former musician, who's also excited to support the future of the Greek music industry and expand live performance opportunities with Greek based funding.
The afternoon was capped by a mesmerizing performance from avant-garde Polish pianist and composer Marcin Marsecke.
ART: DIMITRIS FOUSEKIS
Hydra-based Greek illustrator, painter, and teacher Dimitris Fousekis, renowned for his academic illustrations featured in paleontological publications and antiquities for the Athens Metro, is also deeply influenced by Abstract Expressionism and the natural world. In collaboration with ArtCinema Hydra, we’ve launched a series of art workshops for teenagers, aiming to inspire and unlock their creative potential, drawing from the distinctive world of Tim Burton.
These workshops explore themes of fear and alienation within our species, approached in a playful yet thought-provoking manner. Through individual and collaborative painting and collage sessions, participants reinterpret Burton’s imagery, creating large-scale original artworks using a guided, intuitive, and spontaneous process. Encouraging experimentation, we aim to transmute Burton’s gothic, circus-like universe into the daily life of Hydra, activating the shared subconscious and discovering new creative realms of expression.
This project was first introduced as a work-in-progress during ArtCinema Hydra's October event and is set to be completed by mid-June 2025. We anticipate the final results to be truly surprising and transformative.
ART: HYDRA HOME STUDIO VISITS
In collaboration with Dimitris Fousekis, we are working with local Hydra artists to open their private and often sacred home studios more frequently to the public. This initiative allows visitors to discover the remarkable works being created on the island, which may lack gallery space but certainly not talent. ArtCinema aims to continue fostering these relationships, engaging in conversations with these artists to explore further collaborations and creative dialogues.

EMERGING FILMMAKER ALUMNI NETWORK
Filmmaker Oliver Bruck, one of ArtCinema’s inaugural filmmaker alumni, has been mentored and supported by ArtCinema for the past six months as he prepares his film Mirella for distribution, which he is now actively seeking. During the ArtCinema Hydra event, we presented a 10-minute excerpt from Oliver’s feature-length documentary on legendary African-born Italian photographer Mirella Ricciardi, whose 1971 book Vanishing Africa immortalized the beauty and dignity of African life.
In addition to showcasing Oliver’s work, we offered sneak peeks of upcoming projects in Greece, featuring collaborations with both co-productions and independent producers.
As part of filmmaker alumni, we support filmmakers with industry networking as well as advise on any stage across the production, including financing, distribution and sales.
