ArtCinema is a year-round non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving Hydra's legacy as a global sanctuary for creatives. ArtCinema Hydra is our curated annual long weekend of art and film—an international celebration of creativity in all its forms that also serves as the official fundraiser for our global educational programmes.
ARTCINEMA'S SUMMER PROGRAMME
This summer, ArtCinema welcomed distinguished guests and the local community to our June Summer Prelude Programme, held alongside Hydra's annual cultural calendar, including the opening of the DESTE Foundation's Project Slaughterhouse exhibition featuring Jamaican artist Nari Ward.
Throughout the summer, visitors are invited to experience our Rob Pruitt Beauty Salon & Exhibition, continuing through August. We also offer creative workshops for young people led by Hydra-based artist Dimitris Fousekis.

Rob Pruitt’s Beauty Salon & Exhibition in Hydra is open throughout July!

Following its celebrated opening on 23 June, Rob Pruitt's Beauty Salon & Exhibition remains open throughout July on Hydra. A vibrant new creative space where art, beauty, conversation, and community come together, the salon embodies Rob Pruitt's unmistakable spirit of creativity and transformation. More than an exhibition, it is a living destination for inspiration, self-expression, and meaningful connection.
The exhibition follows the tremendous success of Rob Pruitt's Hydra Flea Market at the Historical Archives Museum of Hydra, which brought together more than 45 artists in a dynamic celebration of contemporary art, creativity, and community.
Rob Pruitt's Hydra residency is produced by ArtCinema in collaboration with curator Eric Shiner, President of Powerhouse Arts in New York, strengthening cultural connections between Hydra and the international contemporary art community.

ROB PRUITT
JUNE RESIDENCY, EXHIBITION & FLEA MARKET
A leading post-conceptual artist known for his playful engagement with consumer culture, identity, and media, Rob Pruitt will present new work created on the island, alongside curating a Hydra Flea Market celebrating local artists and makers. He will also exhibit a selection of his iconic cat sculptures, to help support fundraising for animal welfare initiatives on the island.

JONATHAN HOROWITZ
JUNE RESIDENCY, SCREENING & OCTOBER EXHIBITION
Joining the summer residency in June, Jonathan Horowitz will develop new work for ArtCinema Hydra this October, offering a rare opportunity to experience a residency from its inception through to its public exhibition. Jonathan is a New York–based artist working across video, sculpture, sound installation, and photography. His practice examines the intersecting cultures of politics, celebrity, cinema, war, and consumerism.

As President of Powerhouse Arts, Brooklyn, NY, and a valued art advisor to ArtCinema, Eric Shiner brings exceptional leadership and vision to this year’s art program. Eric is a prominent figure in the contemporary art world, widely recognised for his leadership across major art institutions.

Powerhouse Arts will collaborate with ArtCinema as part of this year’s combined cultural alliance spanning residencies, exhibitions, and international cultural exchange.
The curated exhibitions across the island of Hydra are timed to coincide with the annual program of the DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art, as well as ArtCinema’s flagship event, ArtCinema Hydra, taking place from October 1-4.
This partnership aims to support Hydra’s legacy as an artists’ island and a global cultural platform - bridging international and Greek artists, collectors, and cultural leaders through dynamic, site-specific programming.
